Hotel Tramonto D'Oro Praiano, where the sunset is unique
More than a name. Because Hotel Tramonto D’Oro, in Praiano, is a chair in the front row to get the best possible view of the sunset, in the warm summer evenings, but also in the twilight of a winter evening, an incredible spectacle that nature gives everyone, every day.
But from here, from the balconies of the rooms and from the terrace of the restaurant of Hotel Tramonto D’Oro, the sunset is unique, with views over the village of Positano, over the sea of the Amalfi Coast, over Li Galli island and, further east, over the cliffs of Capri.
The hotel, situated on the west coast of Praiano, in Vettica Maggiore, is nestled between the Mediterranean scrub and the sea, in a landscape that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Mediterranean architecture of the structure, its white walls, the gracefulness of lines, make this hotel a little gem perfectly integrated into the environment of the coast.

The Esposito family has run Hotel Tramonto D’Oro for 60 years. Established as a bar in 1952, in time it was converted into a restaurant and hotel, thanks to the enthusiasm of Donato, his wife Teresa and children Carmela, Emilia and Raffaele. Today, Hotel Tramonto D’Oro features 40 rooms, each with a particular décor and all boasting sober but colorful furnishings. Several rooms are embellished with ceramics by artists from the Amalfi Coast and all have a private bathroom with toiletries, satellite TV, individually controlled air conditioning system, mini bar, safe and direct dial telephone. Superior rooms are equipped with a small balcony from which to admire the spectacle of the Amalfi Coast, while the De Luxe rooms, as well as a larger terrace, feature a sitting room and a bathroom decorated with Vietri ceramics equipped with Jacuzzi and large mirrors.
However, the highlight of this hotel in Praiano is definitely its restaurant. Because just in a few places in the world you can taste Mediterranean cuisine washed down with wines of Salento and southern Italy, while admiring a breathtaking view like this one, over Positano, the sea and Capri’s Faraglioni. The kitchen is managed by chef Ciro D’Urso, who boasts a 20 + years career of experience in preparing customized and traditional specialties, all very refined and delicious; on the other hand, breakfast pastries and desserts are entrusted to pastry chef Salvatore Magliulo. They both have a deep passion for the best ingredients, the most wholesome and tasty, always present in the culinary delights that they prepare every day, those of the sea and the land of the Sorrento Peninsula: the catch of the day, meat from farms on Monti Lattari, fruits and vegetables grown in the countryside of the hinterland. The dining room is organized and managed by maitre Pasquale Amendola, extraordinarily able to understand the tastes of guests. For the most curious, Hotel Tramonto D’Oro organizes cooking classes for the preparation of traditional dishes, and wine tasting.
The hotel is also an excellent location for events and weddings. From the lovely church of San Gennaro, in a few minutes you can reach the hotel to enjoy banquets and receptions in wonderful halls with sea views. Among the services offered by the Hotel Tramonto D’Oro are the swimming pool with solarium, and a snack bar where you can taste delicious cocktails and appetizers. Inside the building there is also a gym with Technogym equipment and a wellness area with sauna and Turkish bath. A very professional staff is at guests’ disposal for revitalizing massages and treatments with herbal essences. Thanks to a shuttle bus, tourists can also reach Gavitella or La Praia beaches in about ten minutes. The staff is also available to organize tours of the Amalfi Coast, trips to the islands of Capri and Ischia, or simply to ensure transfers to and from train stations or airports.
