The Costiera is cheaper on St. Valentine’s

What better occasion than Valentine’s Day to enjoy a romantic weekend in the Amalfi Coast? If there’s a perfect place in the world where to whisper lovely words standing in front of dreamy views, that place is the romantic Amalfi Coast. Also because, in February, when the weather starts getting warmer, and days become longer again, the Costiera is much less expensive, but still wonderful, than in summer. Several restaurants, bars and hotels on the Amalfi Coast, such as those in Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, but also in smaller towns as Minori and Conca dei Marini, welcome tourists who love the peace, tranquility and silence that the Amalfi Coast is able to offer in winter with excellent deals.

The stretch of coast between Positano and Vietri sul Mare is a romantic place par excellence, with all these charming coves, small beaches, terraces with panoramic views and terrific sunsets. Every corner can be turned into a small nest to cuddle and experience love. However, there are some places that only locals know, secret places where lovers take refuge away from everything and everyone.

One of the most striking and secret places for a romantic walk is right in Positano. From the beach named Spiaggia Grande, at the foot of the village, starts a path that leads to a smaller and secluded beach, Fornillo. The walkway runs along the sea and is dotted with Saracen towers. It’s a fairytale place, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, where a sense of peace reigns supreme, the ideal place to walk with your Valentine hand in hand whispering words of love.

Those who rather love classic, postcard spots, where all lovers would like to take a picture, should opt for Ravello instead. Here you can find some of the most evocative landscapes around the Amalfi Coast, those that can be seen from the terraces of the famous villas of Ravello: Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. From these very well maintained open spaces, decorated with agaves and palm trees, you can enjoy wonderful views over the coast and the sea of the Amalfi Coast.

But Ravello also boasts the presence of another enchanted place where lovers can admire a stunning view. It’s on the terrace of the public garden called Belvedere della Principessa di Piemonte, a beautiful corner of Earth, full of flowers and very private, overlooking the coast from Minori to Capo d’Orso.

One special beach in Praiano, Cala Gavitella, offers the most beautiful sunset of the Amalfi Coast. Because this is where the last sun ray plunges into the sea and you can enjoy an amazing view extending from Positano, to the small Li Galli islands, up to Punta Campanella and Capri.

Even Furore has a gift for lovers: the Fjord of Furore, one of the most exciting landmarks in the Costiera. The beach at the foot of the overhanging rocks, that place, so steep, that you can see from above, from the bridge over which the road runs, is truly magic, a little gem made up of fishermen’s cottages perched on the rocks and cherished restaurants where to chill out over a candlelight dinner.

Finally, to seal the pact of love on this romantic trip, you just have to head towards Atrani, one of the most intimate villages on the Amalfi Coast. At the foot of steep cliffs, adorable pastel color houses embrace the delightful piazza Umberto I. This weekend of love cannot but end at one the bars on this square, sipping a drink or a hot chocolate.
